Smolenice CastleIt was built as a guard castle in the 14th century already, later occupied and uplifted by noble Erdödy and Pálfi family. Exactly Jozef Pálfi changed it into a romantic residence that reminds on the famous French castles. From tower of Smolenice Castle you have a panoramic view of surrounding Little Carpathians' nature and the English park planted by the count. A walk there isn't demanding. The park is ideal for picnics or sport activities.
Hillfort and museum MolpírAbove the village Smolenice there rises a mysterious hill Molpír that was once inhabited by Celts. You can see archaeological finds and excavations from their life, as well as fauna and flora of Little Carpathians in the local museum. The guide familiarises you with life of a famous native of Smolenice and inventor of parachute - Štefan Banič. He tested his parachute with a jump of a fifteen floor building in America and got a valuable patent there. But before homecoming it is said that he had sold it American army for fifty dollars.
Beekeeping and mead productionFine honey, water, yeast and a masterful job - that is the secret of the best mead in the world. Local meadery is located directly below the castle on a meadow where beehives and bees have enough place. On your visit, degustation of three mead sorts is awaiting you, among them also Včelovina špeciál appreciated by the title "the best mead in the world in years 2013 - 2015". Children taste sweet honey and find out about its production's secrets.
Little CarpathiansA varied mountain chain and a nature conservation area long one hundred kilometres Exactly in Smolenice surrounding, there are hidden most of natural treasures. Woods, cave Driny, waterfall Hlboča or the highest hill called Záruby. In Little Carpathians, there are many touristic routes and cycle tracks. You can walk through forest paths from Smolenice castle to cave Driny and back to Smolenice. Smolenice are at 50 km distance from Bratislava and 20 km distance from Trnava.
Cave Driny It is the only cave accessible in the west Slovakia and is open for public for nearly eighty years. It's interesting that it was discovered by accident, because dogs vanishing in a rocky hole brought there its first finders.
